Keldenmont Floor Lamp
The Keldenmont Floor Lamp started from a reading chair that sat too far from any table. A lamp standing beside it always put the light behind the shoulder. which is the one place it is no use; what was wanted was a lamp that could stand clear of the chair and lean its head out over it instead. So the post stays upright and a long arm swings off the top. the way a boom lamp does. with a wood grip at the joint to set the angle by hand. The shade stayed the pleated. scallop-hemmed kind from an old parlor table lamp rather than anything that looks like equipment. The wood at the foot and the joint was chosen to sit next to a chair. not beside a desk.
